Endangered Properties in S.C.

The following list comprises structures in the Palmetto State that have been considered "endangered properties" by the Palmetto Trust at some point since the organization's founding. Some of these architectural gems, as you'll read, have been destroyed, and others have been preserved or stabilized, thanks to dedicated individuals and groups in the state. Many properties, however, are still endangered and threatened by forces of development or dilapidation from neglect.

All members of the Palmetto Trust are encouraged to contact us with information on or pictures of these properties, or to suggest properties that are not listed here but should be considered endangered historical buildings in South Carolina. With cooperation, perhaps some of these "Still Endangered" can be moved to the "Saved!" list in the near future. The properties listed here are in no particular order.

The Palmetto Trust is in talks with the owners to acquire the property.
