Donate Real Estate or Appreciated Property

Because of its successful work with many endangered properties around the state, the Palmetto Trust is well suited to receive gifts of historic real estate.

If you choose to donate your real estate to the Palmetto Trust, you will be able to designate how the proceeds from the property sale will be used.

The Palmetto Trust will make every effort possible to ensure that all donated historic properties are protected by legally binding preservation easements or covenants.  

Donors who make gifts of appreciated property receive an income tax charitable deduction equal to the fair market value of the gift. The donor avoids capital gains taxes on the appreciated portion of the property.

Sponsorships

Trust Sponsorships are a great way for businesses, organizations, and individuals to help support our advocacy and get recognized for their generosity. Sponsorship support is vital for helping the Palmetto Trust provide education, leadership and advocacy for historic preservation.

• Education Sponsor: The Palmetto Trust has several programs in place to help educate people on how to properly restore historic properties. Your contribution would help educate future advocates in our mission of historic preservation.
  
  
• Sponsor for the Bi-Annual Newsletter: Sponsorship contributions can be used to cover the costs of designing, creating and distributing our new “In Trust” email newsletter.
  
  
• Special Events Sponsor: Throughout the year, The Trust provides a number of “preservation experiences” that include day trips, preservation excursions, field schools, lectures and receptions. Sponsorship contributions to this area are used to cover the cost of hosting/producing each event.
